Kuwait to witness rare ‘Blood Moon’ total lunar eclipse Sunday

Yousef Al-Ajari, Director of the Al-Ajari Scientific Center, announced today that Kuwait will witness a rare total lunar eclipse this Sunday, marking the second occurrence of its kind this year.

Al-Ajari told the Kuwait News Agency that the eclipse is notable because the moon will pass completely into the Earth’s shadow, taking on a copper-red hue commonly referred to as a “blood moon.” The event will be clearly visible across various parts of the country from start to finish.

“The phenomenon will be most visible along the coasts and open areas in eastern Kuwait, and can safely be observed with the naked eye, or through telescopes and binoculars,” Al-Ajari said.

The Al-Ajari Scientific Center will participate in a special observation event organized by the Physics Department at Kuwait University, in cooperation with the center under the Kuwait National Center for Space Research, among other entities.

Astronomy enthusiasts, students, and representatives from diplomatic missions are invited to attend. The event will run from 6:00 pm to 10:30 pm on Sunday.

Al-Ajari emphasized the center’s focus on educating children and space science enthusiasts. A dedicated website will allow the public to follow the eclipse and engage with specialists from the center and participating organizations.
