Kuwait, Syria hold high-level talks to strengthen bilateral relations, regional cooperation

The State of Kuwait and the Syrian Arab Republic held official talks Monday afternoon at the Bayan Palace. The discussions were chaired on the Kuwaiti side by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and on the Syrian side by President Ahmad Al-Sharaa.
Also present were His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Sabah, and a number of senior officials from both countries.
The Kuwait News Agency said, the Minister of Amiri Diwan Affairs Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah Al-Sabah stated that the talks focused on the strong and historic fraternal relations between Kuwait and Syria and the ways to further support and develop them across all sectors. The two sides emphasized the importance of consolidating bilateral cooperation and coordinating positions on matters of mutual interest to better serve both nations.
In particular, the talks underscored the need to strengthen the international community’s efforts to ensure Syria’s security and stability and preserve its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Both parties also reviewed key regional and international developments, reaffirming the importance of unified Arab action and close coordination on major issues of common concern.
The discussions took place in a spirit of friendship and mutual respect, reflecting the brotherly ties that unite the two nations and their shared desire to deepen cooperation at all levels.
On the sidelines of the visit, His Highness the Amir hosted a luncheon in honor of President Al-Sharaa and his accompanying delegation at the Bayan Palace.
As part of his official visit, President Ahmad Al-Sharaa also met with First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef at his residence in Bayan Palace. The meeting was attended by Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya, who also served as head of the honorary mission accompanying the Syrian delegation.
Additionally, the Syrian President held a meeting with Kuwaiti businessmen to explore opportunities for investment and development projects in Syria, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).
President Al-Sharaa also met with a delegation from the Syrian community residing in Kuwait, reaffirming the Syrian state’s commitment to maintaining close ties with its citizens abroad and ensuring their continued care and engagement.
In a statement during the visit, President Al-Sharaa expressed his appreciation for Kuwait’s enduring support, saying, “Kuwait has been and will remain a steadfast Arab supporter of our nation’s causes.”
President Al-Sharaa arrived in Kuwait on Monday morning, accompanied by an official delegation, and was received by Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya. He departed the country later in the afternoon, concluding his official visit, and was seen off by Minister Al-Yahya and the head of the honorary mission.
