Kuwait suspends charity transfers via Foreign Ministry account from Feb 1

The Ministry of Social Affairs has announced the suspension of transferring donations from humanitarian and charitable organizations through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs account number 106. The decision will take effect on Sunday, February 1.

The ministry said it received a communication from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, explaining that the suspension is part of efforts to regulate the mechanisms for transferring foreign donations, Al-Rai daily reports.

Transfers will still be allowed through officially approved channels, including local banks and licensed exchange companies, in line with existing regulations.

The Ministry of Social Affairs urged the boards of directors of charity societies to adhere strictly to financial transfer procedures to ensure transparency and protect the integrity of charitable and humanitarian work.

In addition, the ministry disclosed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has requested data on previous and ongoing charity projects related to human rights, undertaken by Kuwaiti donors in Lebanon.
