Kuwait-Singapore community celebrates milestones of friendship and progress

On the occasion of Singapore’s 60th National Day and the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Singapore and Kuwait, members of the Singaporean community in Kuwait — representing sectors such as banking, aviation, F&B, property management, and various other industries — gathered with family and friends at the Crowne Plaza Kuwait to mark these twin milestones.

The celebration reflects the deep friendship, shared values, and commitment to strengthening bilateral ties between the two nations, as well as the growing potential for collaboration in key areas including aviation, tourism, AI, smart city initiatives, and other strategic industries.

In his remarks, the Ambassador of the Republic of Singapore to Kuwait H.E. Abu Bakar Mohd Nor, said, “I extend my greatest appreciation to our Singaporean community in Kuwait for organizing the event as we celebrate our nation’s 60th birthday.

“It is deeply heartening to witness the community exemplifying the Singapore spirit far away from home via its own close-knit initiatives. As we also mark 40 years of diplomatic ties with Kuwait, your various contributions to strengthening our ties and flying our flag high in the Middle East continue to make us proud,” he added.

The Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to Singapore, H.E. Ahmad Abdulrahman Al-Shuraim, added, “Kuwait and Singapore — ‘Like-minded countries.’ Two small states in this world, close in thought and principles, and having faith in their people, and committed to international law. I wish Singapore and its friendly people continued progress and prosperity on the occasion of its 60th National Day, which also marks the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between our two countries. Majulah Singapura.”

Barathan Pasupathi, CEO, Jazeera Airways, also addressed the gathering, saying, “It is an honor to celebrate my nation’s 60th National Day here in Kuwait with the small, diverse and passionate community of Singaporeans — a country that has been my professional home for two tours.

“The strong bilateral relationship between Singapore and Kuwait offers immense potential for synergies in aviation, AI, smart city initiatives, banking, transport and logistics. As someone who has witnessed these connections first-hand, I believe the best chapters of our partnership are yet to be written,” he said.
