Kuwait set to participate in ‘SWAT 2024’

The UAE Challenge for Tactical Teams, known as the “SWAT 2024” championship, commenced with the participation of Kuwait alongside 87 teams from 48 Arab and foreign nations.

Colonel Fahd Ibrahim, the commander of the National Guard team taking part in the competition, informed KUNA that Kuwait will be represented in the fifth edition by the Guard’s “67th Special Operations Battalion” team. The team is supported and endorsed by His Highness Sheikh Salem Al-Ali, with further backing from his deputy Sheikh Faisal Al-Nawaf and the Undersecretary of the Guard, Lieutenant General Hashem Al-Rifai, reports Al-Jarida daily.

Colonel Ibrahim highlighted that this marks the Guard’s third involvement in the tournament, aligning with the objectives of the Guard’s 2025 strategic plan. The participation reflects the commitment to support foreign engagement, conduct joint courses with brotherly and friendly nations, and exchange experiences.

The tournament features distinguished participation from various military sectors of the involved countries, with a focus on physical fitness, tactical techniques, and shooting skills.

Emphasizing Kuwait’s consistent interest in external participation, Colonel Ibrahim noted the benefits derived from interacting with teams and gaining increased experience. The results of the championship are closely tied to physical fitness, shooting accuracy, and tactical proficiency.

The organizing committee for SWAT 2024 confirmed the registration of 24 Arab teams, including two from Kuwait (one from the National Guard and the other from the army), in the fifth edition held at the training center in Al-Ruwiyah, Dubai, with a total of 87 teams from 48 countries participating.
