The Ministry of Health will host the second Kuwait Public Health Conference next Monday under the theme “Facing Public Health Challenges: Proposed Solutions,” under the patronage of Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi, the Minister of Health. The conference aims to highlight key issues and challenges impacting public health, Al Rai newspaper reported.

Dr. Fahad Al-Ghamlas, the Director of the Ministry’s Public Health Department and President of the Conference, told KUNA that the two-day conference organized by the Public Health Sector will address several key topics, including the fight against infectious diseases. It will emphasize prevention strategies, early diagnosis, and effective treatment, while highlighting the importance of scientific research and strengthening international cooperation in this field.

Al-Ghamlas added that the conference will also explore the “One Health” initiative, which aims to enhance cooperation between the health and environmental sectors to integrate human, animal, and environmental health.

He noted that the conference will address “digitization” in public health, focusing on the role of modern technology in advancing healthcare, improving crisis response, and updating health surveillance systems.

Additionally, the conference will cover the “Healthy Cities” initiative, discussing strategies to create healthy, safe living and working environments that promote population well-being, with an emphasis on environmental quality, infrastructure, and mental health.

Al-Ghamlas emphasized that the “Food Safety” focus will be part of the conference, aiming to promote sustainable food systems that help reduce health risks.

He noted that the “Climate Change” focus will examine the role of sustainable practices in mitigating extreme weather events, which negatively impact air and water quality and increase global health crises.

He added that the final focus will be on “Public Health for Travelers,” underscoring the importance of providing medical guidance and developing health protocols to limit the cross-border spread of diseases.

Al-Ghamlas explained that the conference will also feature a scientific poster exhibition, with contributions from doctors and graduate students on public health topics, along with specialized workshops, including a food poisoning workshop in collaboration with the World Health Organization and a biological risk assessment workshop.

He stated that the conference will also feature an exhibition with participation from over fifteen official entities, including the Faculty of Public Health at Kuwait University and the Public Health Association, and will include a special pavilion offering winter vaccinations for those interested.
