Kuwait set to construct memorial mural for 42 martyrs of 1973 war
At the ceremony honoring 122 martyrs, Martyr’s Office Director General Salah Al-Oufan announced that the project design is complete and with the engineering office, while financial preparations are ongoing.

Salah Al-Oufan, the Director General of the Martyr’s Office, announced new programs in preparation for the upcoming national holidays. He explained that the office is coordinating with the Egyptian Army to create a mural honoring the 42 Kuwaiti martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the October 1973 war in support of Egypt and Arab nationalism, as reported by Al Rai newspaper.
The ceremony held by the office on Sunday evening honored 122 sons of distinguished martyrs, under the patronage of the Minister of Amiri Diwan Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed Al-Abdullah, with the theme “Under the auspices of our Prince, our secret of superiority and excellence.”
During the event, Salah Al-Oufan confirmed that the design for the Martyr’s Memorial Project has been completed and is currently with the engineering office, while financial preparations for its implementation are still underway.
In his speech, Al-Oufan said, “We gather again to celebrate our outstanding sons in their various stages of study who have achieved honorable accomplishments for our country in all fields. They are the sons of Kuwait’s righteous martyrs. We are proud and optimistic about their success, which proves that our youth are responsible, trustworthy, and committed to our values, customs, and traditions passed down through generations.”
He added, “We are fully convinced that you will not rest until you reach the goal, raising the name of the State of Kuwait as high as it was defended by the martyrs of this country. So, walk the paths of creativity, excellence, and seek useful knowledge.”
He pointed out that “the Martyr’s Office has continued its journey over the years to provide full support and encouragement to the sons of martyrs at all stages, as we are fully confident that they represent a true and successful investment. They remain committed to the directives and recommendations of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah to offer complete support and care to the families of martyrs, in loyalty and appreciation for what their families have sacrificed for Kuwait.”
