Eng. Manal Al-Asfour, the Director General of the Kuwait Municipality, signed a contract with Dar Al-Shaheen Engineering Consultancy to build a historical museum in the capital. The project aims to become a cultural landmark as part of the strategy to develop Mubarakiya into a major tourist and cultural destination, reports Al Jarida newspaper.
The Imam Abdulrahman Al-Faisal Museum project is located within Mubarakiya Markets, near Al Bahr Mosque and the Central Gold Market, in the fourth commercial block of the Qibla area.
The project includes the Imam House Museum, designed to replicate the original Imam House, along with supporting museums, commercial buildings, a basement, and a café, covering a total area of 4,490 m². The design study phase is expected to take one year.
The museum highlights the deep-rooted Kuwaiti-Saudi relations, showcasing a significant era of fraternal ties between the two nations. It narrates the history of the House of Saud and the shared heritage of Kuwait and Saudi Arabia by emphasizing the status of the Imam who once resided in Mubarakiya, Kuwait City.
Familial and historical connections
The project also reflects the familial and historical connections between the leadership and people of both countries, reaffirming Kuwait’s commitment to preserving their common heritage.
The museum captures the lifestyle and traditions of that era, illustrating the cultural similarities between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. It serves as a reminder for future generations of the enduring ties between the two nations and underscores the legacy and history that bridge the past and present.
