Kuwait says strategic food stocks are sufficient, markets fully supplied

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry said the country’s strategic stock of essential food commodities remains in a normal, reassuring, and sufficient condition, with additional reserves available to cover extended periods if needed.

The ministry emphasized that all essential goods are readily available in local markets in quantities sufficient to meet the needs of both citizens and residents, with no shortages reported.

In a statement to the Kuwait News Agency, the ministry added that supply chains are operating smoothly and without disruption, noting that approved emergency plans continue to be implemented to ensure food security, diversify import sources, and strengthen stock levels in coordination with milling companies and the private sector in anticipation of any regional or global developments.

The ministry also highlighted that emergency teams conduct periodic field inspections of private sector warehouses to monitor inventory levels and ensure the uninterrupted flow of supplies, as part of the strategic food security plan approved by the Cabinet, for which the ministry is responsible for implementation and continuous oversight.

Additionally, the ministry confirmed that local bakery production exceeds total domestic demand. Bakeries are equipped with electric generators and silo storage systems, enabling them to operate for a significant period without relying on external supplies.

Authorities remain vigilant, continuing to monitor the implementation of the National Food Security Strategy projects to safeguard strategic reserves and maintain their stability.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health of Kuwait confirmed there has been no recorded casualties related to the ongoing regional developments.
