Kuwait Red Crescent Society establishes regional blood bank project in Adana, Turkey
The Kuwait Red Crescent Society announced the establishment of a central and regional “blood bank” project in the southern Turkish province of Adana, along with the delivery of vehicles for search and rescue and blood transfusion from various donation centers.
The Deputy Chairman of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society, Dr. Nasser Al-Tanak, mentioned in a statement to KUNA, that the project is part of the Society’s efforts to provide relief and support those affected by the 2023 Turkey earthquake. He noted that the center’s building consists of five floors with a total area of 18,000 square meters and a building area of 6,000 square meters.
Dr. Al-Tanak explained that the center is scheduled to serve approximately five million people and that the construction process will take around two years. He noted that the project was established with a donation from the Kuwait Finance House, in cooperation with the Turkish Red Crescent Society, and under the supervision of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society.
Furthermore, Dr. Al-Tanak pointed out that the association also delivered search and rescue vehicles and blood transport vehicles from donation centers, indicating that the total cost of constructing the building, vehicles, and transport vehicles amounted to five million dollars.
Dr. Al-Tanak stressed that the State of Kuwait continues to provide support to all those affected from all over the world as part of its humanitarian mission. He noted that this aid encompasses various forms beyond food, clothing, and in-kind assistance, extending into multiple areas of support.
Additionally, Dr. Al-Tanak pointed out that the establishment of this regional blood bank center is part of the association’s various efforts to support the friendly Turkish people and assist them after the devastating earthquake that affected various sectors of the region.
Dr. Al-Tanak also expressed his hope that the center would serve Adana and the surrounding areas, noting that overcoming such natural disasters and providing services to those affected requires time until the region can fully absorb and meet the needs of the population.
In a related context, Dr. Al-Tanak stated that today a project to distribute relief supplies was completed by delivering five vehicles to distribute food, funded by the Kuwait Red Crescent Society in cooperation with the Qatar Red Crescent Society and the Turkish Red Crescent.
