Kuwait records sharp drop in traffic accidents

Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior and Chairman of the Supreme Traffic Council, Major General Ali Al-Adwani, announced a significant decrease in traffic accidents.
During the Council’s 25th meeting, which was attended by senior officials and representatives from key state institutions, he attributed this to the rise in the usage of seatbelt.
Al-Adwani added the Ministry of Interior, in coordination with security sectors, continues to push forward with a comprehensive traffic plan to safeguard road users and strengthen Kuwait’s leadership in community safety.
The meeting highlighted key improvements, including reduced mobile phone use while driving following the implementation of strict laws to arrest and punish those who commit serious traffic violations.
The meeting also reviewed preparations for the new academic year, with field plans designed to ease congestion on major roads and highways and ensure smooth access to schools and universities.
Opening the session, Al-Adwani conveyed the greetings and support of First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef, praising the Council’s ongoing efforts to enhance the traffic system and protect citizens and residents.
