Kuwait records 19,702 traffic violations and 1,225 accidents from May 25 – 31

  • Kuwait’s traffic and security authorities issued nearly 20,000 traffic violations, handled more than 1,200 accidents, and arrested dozens of wanted individuals during a week-long nationwide enforcement campaign aimed at improving road safety and public security.

Traffic and security campaigns carried out by Kuwait’s Traffic and Operations Sector resulted in the issuance of 19,702 traffic violations and the handling of 1,225 traffic accidents over an eight-day period, according to figures released by the Ministry of Interior.

Statistics issued by the Directorate General of Traffic covering May 25–31, 2026, showed that authorities dealt with 2,488 traffic reports, arrested 24 wanted individuals and 24 wanted vehicles, and apprehended 18 residency law violators and three people without identification documents.

The directorate also reported the detention of two individuals suspected of abnormal behavior and the referral of 15 juveniles to the Public Prosecution. During the same period, authorities impounded 431 vehicles and 27 motorcycles, while 54 individuals were detained at traffic police stations for legal action.

Traffic accident figures included 913 road accidents and 165 accidents involving injuries.

Meanwhile, the General Directorate of Emergency Police conducted 1,815 security operations between May 24 and May 30 as part of ongoing efforts to enhance public safety, strengthen traffic discipline, and respond rapidly to incidents and emergencies.

The operations led to the arrest of 22 wanted persons, the apprehension of residency violators and individuals without official identification, and the seizure of vehicles wanted by judicial authorities.

Emergency police patrols also responded to 147 traffic accidents, assisted in 968 emergency cases, and issued 1,150 traffic violations. Several violating vehicles were impounded, while 22 suspected individuals were referred to the General Directorate of Drug Control for further legal procedures.

The General Directorate of Emergency Police reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a strong security presence across the country, ensuring rapid responses to emergencies, enhancing public safety, and enforcing the law.
