Kuwait ranks second in Gulf, 30th globally in world happiness report 2025

Kuwait’s performance reflects a strong balance between economic stability, quality of life, and civic engagement, positioning it as a leading example in the region for building a happy, secure, and community-oriented society.

Kuwait secured an impressive second place in Gulf and 30th globally in overall happiness, according to the annual World Happiness Report.

Published by the Centre for Well-being at Oxford University in partnership with Gallup and the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network, the report highlights Kuwait’s notable progress in social cohesion, charity work, and public trust — key pillars contributing to national well-being.

Based on self-reported life satisfaction data collected from 2022 to 2024, the report places Kuwait among the top-performing countries in several key sub-indicators.

In the Cantril Ladder — a visual scale used to assess subjective well-being and life satisfaction — Kuwait ranked 30th. It also ranked 33rd in the Donation Index, 46th in Volunteering, and 27th in Helping Strangers.

In regional comparison, the United Arab Emirates ranked 21st globally and first in the Gulf, placing 16th in donations and 19th in volunteering. Saudi Arabia followed Kuwait closely at 32nd globally, ranking 48th in donations and 92nd in volunteer work.

Among other Arab nations, Libya came in at 74th, Algeria 83rd, Jordan 92nd, Iraq 93rd, Lebanon 99th, Palestine 101st, Egypt 110th, Morocco 111th, Sudan 117th, Tunisia 119th, Djibouti 120th, and Mauritania 122nd.

The report underlined the importance of trust, generosity, and community support as central elements of human well-being, noting that trust between strangers has a more significant effect on happiness than income or volunteerism alone.

Kuwait’s performance reflects a strong balance between economic stability, quality of life, and civic engagement, positioning it as a leading example in the region for building a happy, secure, and community-oriented society.
