• Kuwait and other GCC countries lead in achieving the lowest hunger levels in the world, an accomplishment that has been attributed to economic stability and effective food policies, according to the 2024 Global Hunger Index.
The 2024 Global Hunger Index (GHI) report has established Kuwait as one of the world’s least hungry nations, sitting below the hunger rating of five points. Along with Kuwait, another twenty two nations including the United Arab Emirates have this top ranking because of identical scores, according to Al Rai newspaper.
The GHI uses four key indicators to evaluate global hunger levels: The proportion of undernourished individuals in the population, the prevalence of wasting among children under five, the prevalence of stunting in children and the mortality rate of children under five.
In the past, Kuwait has always been among the least hungry countries and has scored below five points in all the previous index reports. The country’s food security has been relatively stable, thus the score.
The index, across the Gulf and Arab regions, confirms that Kuwait and other GCC countries lead in achieving the lowest hunger levels in the world, an accomplishment that has been attributed to economic stability and effective food policies.
