Kuwaiti Ambassador to Portugal H.E. Hamad Al-Hazeem affirmed the embassy’s commitment to boosting economic and investment cooperation between Kuwait and Portugal and to encouraging Kuwaiti companies to expand into the Portuguese market.
In a statement on Friday, Ambassador Al-Hazeem said he met at the Kuwaiti Embassy in Lisbon with Massimiliano Maiocco, Chief Operating Officer of Kuwait Petroleum Spain (a subsidiary of Kuwait Petroleum International – Q8), and Abdullah Al-Roumi, Director of the Retail Sector, to discuss the company’s new license to operate in Portugal, reports Al-Rai daily.
He added that he coordinated an official meeting between the company’s delegation and Rafael Rocha, Director General of the Portuguese Business Federation, to explore cooperation prospects and joint investment opportunities in the energy and petroleum services sectors.
Ambassador Al-Hazeem described Q8’s expansion into Portugal as an “important addition” that will help develop and strengthen Kuwaiti–Portuguese trade and economic relations, emphasizing the embassy’s full support for the company’s future projects.
He stressed that the embassy remains ready to assist Kuwaiti companies seeking to invest in Portugal, thereby deepening bilateral trade and economic ties between the two friendly nations.
For his part, Maiocco praised Ambassador Al-Hazeem’s efforts in reinforcing collaboration between Kuwaiti and Portuguese companies, noting that this cooperation plays a vital role in supporting Kuwait’s economic growth.
Maiocco added that during discussions with the Portuguese Business Federation, potential partnerships were explored in the energy, infrastructure, and services sectors, which could pave the way for mutually beneficial business opportunities.
