
An official delegation from Kuwait’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) took part in the Cospas-Sarsat International Search and Rescue Conference held in Abu Dhabi, with participation from representatives of 47 countries around the world.
In a statement, the DGCA said Kuwait’s participation was carried out under the directives of its Director General, Sheikh Hamoud Mubarak Al-Hamoud Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and aligns with the country’s commitment to strengthening regional and international cooperation, exchanging expertise, and enhancing national readiness in line with global best practices in search and rescue operations, reports Al-Rai daily.
During the conference, the Kuwaiti delegation reaffirmed the State of Kuwait’s dedication to advancing its national search and rescue system in accordance with the standards and recommendations of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the Cospas-Sarsat Organization. The goal is to boost Kuwait’s preparedness for rapid and effective emergency response across air, sea, and land domains.
The delegation also engaged in a series of coordination meetings with regional and international counterparts to explore avenues for joint collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and integration of national and international emergency response frameworks.
At the close of the event, the Kuwaiti delegation expressed deep appreciation to the United Arab Emirates for its warm hospitality and exceptional organization of the international forum.
They also praised the UAE’s leadership in supporting and advancing the global search and rescue infrastructure, underscoring the vital importance of continued cooperation among member states to ensure maximum safety and operational readiness.
The Kuwaiti delegation included specialists and technical experts involved in search and rescue operations, including Dawood Al-Jarrah, Director of the Technical Office and Director of the Air Navigation Department at the DGCA, and Ahmed Boutiban, Head of the Radar, Search and Rescue Department.
