Kuwait, Pakistan strengthen customs cooperation to combat drug smuggling

The President of the General Administration of Customs, Yousef Al-Nuwaif, received a high-level security delegation from the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, headed by the President of the Pakistani Anti-Narcotics Agency, Major General Abdul Moeed, accompanied by Colonel Kamran Naseer, Head of the Special Investigations Unit.

The meeting focused on strengthening joint security and customs cooperation, particularly through the exchange of expertise and information in combating drug smuggling.

Discussions also addressed enhancing coordination between relevant authorities to confront cross-border smuggling networks, with the aim of protecting societies and reinforcing security and stability, reports Al-Rai daily.

During the talks, Al-Nuwaif affirmed Kuwaiti Customs’ commitment to supporting international and regional cooperation frameworks with security agencies, stressing that combating drugs remains one of the most pressing security challenges and requires concerted joint efforts at all levels.

The meeting also highlighted Kuwait’s recent approval of a new anti-drug law, issued under the directives of the country’s supreme leadership and with the direct support of the Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahd Yousef Saud Al-Sabah.

The legislation reflects Kuwait’s determination to strengthen its legal and security systems and to impose stricter deterrent measures to protect society from the dangers of drugs.

The visit comes within the framework of reinforcing bilateral relations between Kuwait and Pakistan and underscores Kuwait’s active role and firm commitment to combating drugs and safeguarding the community from their harmful effects.
