Kuwait on alert: Government prepares for possible repercussions amid Israel-Iran escalation

Leadership, security, and diplomacy align to safeguard stability and strategic resources

The government of Kuwait is on high alert to address the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict and its potential repercussions on national security and stability.

His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah has chaired a meeting of the Supreme Petroleum Council to assess the impact of current regional and global political developments on oil markets.

Meanwhile, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef called on security agencies to heighten readiness and strengthen inter-agency coordination to effectively respond to evolving threats.

In parallel, Minister of Information and Culture and State Minister for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi urged official media outlets to proactively deliver accurate information and counter misinformation through unified, professional communication.

Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya reaffirmed Kuwait’s call for an immediate ceasefire and renewed negotiations, emphasizing the country’s diplomatic efforts as current chair of the Gulf Cooperation Council, including active coordination with regional and international partners since the onset of the crisis.

The government is also focusing on civil preparedness. The Public Authority for Industry held an emergency meeting to ensure the protection of strategic stockpiles of food, water, and medicine in critical areas such as Shuaiba. Acting Director General Jarallah Al-Dosari emphasized activating emergency teams and evacuation plans.

Similarly, the National Guard, under the oversight of Deputy Commander Lt. Gen. Hashim Al-Rifai, reviewed the readiness of logistical support systems and called for full vigilance in light of the tense regional climate.

On the humanitarian front, the Ministry of Social Affairs coordinated with the Federation of Charitable Societies and Endowments to boost institutional preparedness for crisis response. This initiative seeks to strengthen the role of civil society in managing emergencies and ensuring timely humanitarian support, should regional tensions escalate further.
