This project is one of eleven projects that Kuwait Oil Company plans to offer through the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation’s recently launched bidding portal.
According to sources in the oil industry, MEED magazine stated that the Kuwait Oil Company has informed contractors that the budget for its project involving the construction of a gas desalination and sulfur extraction facility in western Kuwait will amount to approximately 110 million dinars (equivalent to $360 million).
Sources added that the contractors were given a summary of the scope of work on the project, which is scheduled to be implemented in accordance with the build, operate and transfer system, and it was divided into two parts. Sources stated that the instructions that the company provided to the contractors include that the implementation of each of the two phases will be completely independent of the other phase.
They indicated that the implementation phase includes, among other tasks, licensing, design, engineering, health, safety, and environmental services, project management, supply and shipping operations, construction, testing, mechanical works, preparations for start-up, and then operation and testing of the facility’s performance.
The operation and maintenance phase include operating and maintaining the facility, implementing all safety, quality control, and environmental protection services associated with it, as well as fulfilling all other associated and related obligations.
