Kuwait National Guard Safely Destroys Drone Warhead Found in Fuel Tank
The Kuwait National Guard announced the successful extraction and destruction of remnants of a drone warhead that had fallen into a fuel storage tank.
In a statement issued Wednesday evening the official spokesman of the National Guard, Brig. Dr. Jadaan Fadel Jadaan, said that personnel from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit of the Engineering Battalion managed to retrieve parts of the drone’s warhead and destroy them using approved technical procedures after it was discovered inside the tank.
The National Guard explained that the EOD team moved to the site immediately after receiving a report of the incident and conducted a technical inspection. It was found that the drone’s warhead had fallen into the tank without detonating, posing a significant technical challenge due to the presence of petroleum materials and chemical vapors at the site.
According to the statement, the operation took seven continuous days, during which the fuel tank was completely emptied and all necessary safety measures were implemented to ensure the safety of the team.
The National Guard emphasized that the successful handling of the situation reflects the high level of readiness and professionalism of the Engineering Battalion in dealing with complex and dangerous incidents, in coordination with relevant military and security authorities in Kuwait.
Officials added that such efforts contribute to protecting lives and property and enhancing national security and safety.
