Kuwait Municipality removes 25 illegal camps near sensitive military zones
Crackdown on violations; camps and structures cleared in security buffer areas

The Sabah Al-Ahmad Marine Center in the Ahmadi Municipality has confirmed the removal of approximately 25 illegal spring camps located in proximity to sensitive military installations, as part of ongoing enforcement and regulatory operations.
Ahmed Al-Habaj, head of the center, said in remarks to Kuwait TV that the municipality is maintaining close and continuous coordination with relevant security authorities, ensuring that reported violations are addressed without delay. He noted that while some camp owners have voluntarily complied and dismantled their structures, others remain in violation, reports Al-Rai daily.
He explained that enforcement procedures begin with formal warnings issued to violators, including owners of camps, chalets, and mobile installations.
A 24-hour notice sticker is placed before removal action is carried out if compliance is not achieved. In cases involving unlicensed fences, barriers, and gates, immediate removal is undertaken without delay.
Al-Habaj added that municipal teams are conducting field inspections to detect and address violations in real time. He urged camp owners in areas near military facilities to cooperate with authorities and proactively remove unauthorized structures, stressing that these measures are intended to enhance safety and regulatory order rather than restrict public use.
He further noted that enforcement actions involving livestock and related activities are carried out in coordination with the General Authority for the Environment, which handles regulatory follow-up measures such as fines or relocation orders, while the municipality focuses on removing illegal structures.
According to him, dismantled tents and installations are transferred to designated scrapyards with official documentation. He confirmed that such campaigns will continue on a regular basis under directives from the Minister of State for Municipal Affairs, who is closely overseeing field operations, particularly in sensitive and strategically important areas.
