Kuwait Municipality has announced that its field teams have launched a nationwide campaign to clean alleyways across all governorates, removing accumulated waste, debris, and construction rubble, while also eliminating unregulated and unsightly appearances in public areas.
Abdullah Al-Azmi, Head of the Jaber Al-Ahmad Municipality Center, said the Public Hygiene and Road Occupancy Department is responsible for maintaining cleanliness in residential, commercial, and investment zones, in addition to removing waste and accumulated debris.
He added that the department also monitors the work of cleaning contractors and carries out the removal of encroachments and violations on state property, roads, and public squares, with the aim of ensuring a clean and safe environment for citizens and residents.
Al-Azmi explained that areas such as narrow alleyways are among the locations where waste tends to accumulate due to limited daily access or infrequent use.
He said the ongoing campaign is expected to significantly improve cleanliness levels, enhance the urban landscape, reduce sources of pollution, and limit the spread of insects, rodents, and unpleasant odors.
He also stressed the importance of removing abandoned vehicles and boats from public spaces, parking areas, and road shoulders, noting that leaving them in such locations disrupts services and leads to enforcement action.
He pointed out that municipal regulations require a 48-hour notice period for abandoned vehicles and boats, and 24 hours for those displayed for sale, urging full compliance to avoid legal procedures.
