Kuwait Municipality extends cleaning contracts for six more months

The Public Cleaning Committee is working to complete the tendering procedures before the end of the extension period, allowing sufficient time to adopt the new technical specifications.

Confirming what was published by Al-Jarida newspaper in its August 16 issue, Kuwait Municipality has approved a six-month extension of the current cleaning contracts, which were set to expire on October 10. The extension will remain in place until new contracts are issued, the newspaper reported.

A source in the municipality confirmed that the Public Cleaning Committee is working to complete the tendering procedures before the end of the extension period, allowing sufficient time to adopt the new technical specifications. The municipality will present the tenders, after thorough review and processing, to the Court of Audit to avoid the issues encountered in previous decades.

He noted that the contracts are expected to be offered by the end of this year and will take at least two months to finalize. The new specifications will ensure the principle of sustainability in public hygiene services, including cleaning, waste collection, and transportation. Additionally, the contract terms will feature updates to the general hygiene and waste transport regulations.

It is noteworthy that the new contracts consist of nineteenagreements, with an additional contract for each of the governorates of Jahra and Al-Ahmadi, bringing their total to four contracts each. This increase is due to the growing number of residential areas and the need to cover agricultural zones and livestock holdings.
