Kuwait mulls hike in residency fees for sponsors of parents

According to the source, the fee for Article 22 residency is only ten dinars, whereas adding a family member for those holding other articles costs 250 dinars.

  • The General Administration of Residency Affairs is questioning whether the annual residency fee of ten dinars will continue or if it will rise for sponsors of parents under Article 24, like other residency fees.

A security source disclosed that the General Administration of Residency Affairs has asked the General Administration of Legal Affairs to consult on the fees applicable when transferring residency from a ‘father’ or ‘mother’ under Article 22 to their sponsor holding Article 24 (the same sponsor), according to Al Anba newspaper.

According to the source, the fee for Article 22 residency (whether for renewal or transfer to sponsors holding Article 24) is only ten dinars, whereas adding a family member for those holding other articles (Article 17, Article 18, Article 19) costs 250 dinars.

The source noted that the General Administration of Residency Affairs has raised a question about whether the current practice will continue, i.e., issuing residency annually for ten dinars, or if the fees for renewing or transferring residencies for those affiliated with the family of the ‘father or mother’ will be increased for sponsors holding Article 24, similar to fees collected for other articles.
