Kuwait Announces Automatic Extension of Visit Visas and 3 month absence Permits amid Exceptional Circumstances
Visit visas expiring around 28 Feb 2026 are automatically extended for 1 month without fees or immigration visits. Residents outside Kuwait who exceeded absence limits receive a 3-month absence permit automatically. Periods may be extended depending on developments.

The Ministry of Interior has announced a series of exceptional measures in view of the extraordinary circumstances currently facing the country.
In a statement issued, the Ministry confirmed the automatic extension of visit visas and additional three month absence permits for residents abroad, with full exemption from related fees and fines.
Automatic Extension of Visit Visas
All types of visit entry visas that have expired or are set to expire during the present situation will be automatically extended for a period of one month, effective from February 28, 2026.
The extension will be processed electronically, without the need for individuals to visit residency affairs departments.
The Ministry also confirmed a complete waiver of all prescribed fees and any resulting fines during this period, in consideration of the exceptional circumstances.
Additional Absence Permit for Residents Abroad
Residents currently outside Kuwait who have exceeded the permitted absence period and are unable to return will be granted an additional three-month absence permit.
This measure will likewise be implemented automatically through the electronic system, without the need for in-person procedures, and with exemption from applicable fees.
The Ministry emphasized that the specified periods may be extended further depending on developments in the country’s situation.
It also urged citizens and residents to rely solely on the Ministry’s official communication channels for updates and further announcements.
Concluding its statement, the Ministry prayed for the continued safety and protection of Kuwait, its people, and all those residing on its land.
