Dr. Mufreh Al-Rashidi, Director of Quality, Health, Safety, and Work Environment at the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research, said studies show Kuwait will experience higher humidity levels in the coming years, which could lead to cloud formation and summer rains across the Arabian Peninsula during July and August.
He told Al-Rai that the institute’s projections cover the next 10–20 years, while international studies extend to 70–80 years, all confirming climate shifts in the region. “If summer rains occur, humidity will rise significantly during the season,” he said.
Al-Rashidi noted that Kuwait’s current humidity remains within its usual annual range and is expected to subside by the end of this month. However, he warned that humidity mixed with dust worsens respiratory issues, particularly for asthma and allergy patients.
He recommended using dehumidifiers in homes and workplaces to stabilize humidity levels and protect sensitive equipment, in addition to relying on air conditioners, which also reduce indoor moisture.
