Kuwait makes medical breakthrough with Robotic Transoral Thyroidectomy

In a significant medical milestone, the Ministry of Health announced the successful completion of a robotic transoral thyroidectomy — performed with no visible external incisions — at Jaber Al-Ahmad Hospital.

The procedure was carried out using the advanced Transoral Robotic Thyroidectomy (TORT) technique by a national surgical team led by Dr. Salman Al-Safran.

The Ministry explained that the surgery is conducted entirely through the mouth, eliminating the need for a neck incision. This approach offers superior cosmetic results, less pain, and a faster recovery period, marking Kuwait’s entry into a new era of advanced minimally invasive surgery, reports Al-Anba daily.

The surgical team expressed appreciation for the support of Minister of Health Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi, Undersecretary Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, Surgery Department Head Dr. Suleiman Al-Marzouqi, Anesthesia Department Head Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Rifai, as well as the dedicated staff across the surgical and anesthesia units at Jaber Al-Ahmad Hospital.
