Kuwait makes ‘explosive revelations’ in Kuwait’s citizenship investigations

‘No matter how long it takes, forgery will ultimately be exposed’

The Supreme Committee for Citizenship Investigation has intensified its efforts to protect Kuwait’s national identity and safeguard citizenship records from tampering and fraud.

The Nationality Investigation Department has uncovered a series of major forgery cases — described as “explosive” — that involved tangled identities, false names, and even citizenships passed down through generations on fabricated claims.

The investigations underscore a central truth — no matter how long it takes, forgery will ultimately be exposed.

Key tools in these efforts have included a public hotline, extensive field investigations, and DNA testing, all of which have been instrumental in uncovering deception and revealing the true identities behind hundreds of names fraudulently added to Kuwaiti citizenship files.

Among the cases revealed were files that began with a handful of names but later unraveled into hundreds of individuals linked by false claims.

In one instance, an Iraqi inserted into a Kuwaiti family record in the 1970s was exposed half a century later through DNA analysis.

In another, two Syrian siblings each claimed a different Kuwaiti father, only for genetic testing to reveal their true Syrian lineage.

Such cases, layered with deception, have been likened to a Russian “Matryoshka” doll—where one forgery conceals another, and every opened file uncovers new layers of fraud.

In its latest meeting chaired by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Youssef, the Supreme Committee decided to withdraw and revoke Kuwaiti citizenship in several cases.

These included dual nationality, fraud and false statements, as well as revocations deemed necessary for reasons of national interest. The committee’s decisions are now being prepared for submission to the Council of Ministers.
