Summit reflects Kuwait’s commitment to leveraging modern technologies and building a knowledge- and innovation-based economy

Minister of State for Communications Affairs Omar Al-Omar announced that Kuwait is among the first countries globally to provide artificial intelligence services to all government employees using Microsoft Copilot technology.

Speaking at the Microsoft AI Summit, Al-Omar highlighted that Kuwait has been selected as the first country in the region to build an AI-powered cloud region, enabling Microsoft’s AI cloud services to be delivered from Kuwait to countries worldwide.

He emphasized that hosting the summit reflects Kuwait’s commitment to leveraging modern technologies and building a knowledge- and innovation-based economy, in line with the New Kuwait 2035 vision, reports Al-Jarida daily.

The minister noted that Kuwait is advancing toward becoming a regional hub for technology and digital infrastructure, implementing programs to enhance investment in modern technologies, create an integrated digital environment, and strengthen national competencies for a sustainable digital future.

Naim Yazbek, President of Microsoft for the Middle East and Africa, praised Kuwait’s partnership, stating that the government has facilitated the integration of latest AI technologies into development through collaborations with government institutions and the private sector.

He noted that Kuwait’s AI strategy focuses on two main pillars: building the necessary infrastructure and training national cadres to develop AI expertise in both sectors.

Alaa Eldin Alaa Eldin, General Manager of Microsoft Kuwait, said the partnership enables the company to offer cutting-edge AI and intelligent cloud solutions, positioning Kuwait as a global leader in mobile AI capabilities.

During the summit, Minister Al-Omar honored winners of the AI Excellence Awards from government and private entities.

The awardees included the Ministry of Finance, Central Agency for Information Technology, Credit Bank, Public Authority for Sports, General Secretariat of the Supreme Council for Planning and Development, Ministry of Health, Public Authority for Applied Education and Training, and Kuwait Oil Company. In the private sector, National Bank of Kuwait and Kuwait Finance House were recognized for their achievements.
