Kuwait keen to boost cooperation, coordination with Africa: Al-Yahya

Foreign Minister Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya said the relationship between the State of Kuwait and the African continent is deep and historic.

  • Kuwait’s Foreign Minister Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya emphasized the unity among diverse races and languages, extending his wishes for continued progress, prosperity, security, and safety to the countries and peoples of Africa.

  • “The African-Kuwaiti relationship is witnessing tremendous growth in various fields, especially investments and trade, for further progress and prosperity for the continent and Kuwait,” said H.E. Mohamed Saad Ouro-Sama, the Ambassador of Togo to Kuwait.

Foreign Minister Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya expressed his happiness at attending the Africa Day celebration, highlighting the unity amidst diversity in races and languages.

In statements to reporters on the sidelines of his participation in the Africa Day celebration, Al-Yahya added that the relationship between the State of Kuwait and the countries of the African continent is deep and historic.

He stressed the State of Kuwait’s keenness to continue strengthening cooperation and coordination with the countries of the African continent in a way that brings mutual benefits. Al-Yahya also wished the countries and peoples of Africa continued progress, prosperity, security, and safety.

In his speech delivered on behalf of the group of African ambassadors, H.E. Mohamed Saad Ouro-Sama, the Dean of the African Diplomatic Corps and Ambassador of Togo to the country, expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah for his sincere support for our continent since ascending the throne as Amir of the State of Kuwait.

He said, “Kuwait plays an important role in supporting our continent by providing many initiatives, not only in economic development plans but also at the political and cultural level. This is a clear indication that the African-Kuwaiti relationship is witnessing tremendous growth in various fields, especially investments and trade, for further progress and prosperity for the continent and Kuwait.”

He stressed the keenness of the group of African ambassadors to achieve the goals of the African Union’s slogan, which is “Educating and refining Africa,” by enhancing cooperation with Kuwait in the cultural and educational fields.

Regarding the occasion, Ambassador Ouro-Sama said, “Our beloved continent celebrates Africa Day, which marks the founding of the Organization of African Unity on May 25, 1963, leading to the establishment of the Organization of African Union in 2002.” He added, “It is a day on which we celebrate our unity, a colorful manifestation of the wonderful diversity of our cultures, which integrates and interconnects cultures.”
