Kuwait issues 25,000 traffic citations, arrests dozens in 1 week, in nationwide crackdown
Traffic and emergency police statistics for the week ending July 19 showed intensified enforcement across Kuwait, with 23,567 traffic violations issued, 271 vehicles and four motorcycles impounded, and 29 motorists detained for serious traffic offences.
The campaigns also resulted in the arrest of 32 wanted individuals, the seizure of 13 wanted vehicles, the apprehension of 16 residency law violators, nine individuals in an abnormal state, and five people without identification documents.
Kuwait’s traffic authorities issued nearly 25,000 traffic citations and responded to 1,240 road accidents during a week-long nationwide enforcement campaign aimed at improving road safety and strengthening security.
Figures released by the General Directorate of Traffic for July 13–19 show officers issued 23,567 traffic violations, impounded 271 vehicles and four motorcycles, and referred 29 motorists to the Traffic Detention Center for committing serious traffic offences.
Nine juveniles were also referred to the Juvenile Prosecution for traffic-related offences.
Traffic police responded to 927 property-damage collisions and 164 accidents involving injuries, while emergency police handled the remaining incidents, securing accident scenes and managing traffic flow to minimize congestion.
The campaign also targeted security violations. Authorities arrested one suspect for alleged drug possession and another for being in an abnormal state. Both were referred to the General Directorate for Drug Control.
In addition, officers detained 35 residency law violators, one person without official identification, 36 wanted individuals, and seized 26 wanted vehicles. All were referred to the competent authorities for legal action.
Separately, statistics released by the General Directorate of Emergency Police for the period July 12–18 showed the arrest of 32 wanted individuals, 13 wanted vehicles, 16 residency law violators, nine individuals in an abnormal state, and five people without identification documents.
Emergency police also arrested three suspects in drug-related cases and referred them to the General Directorate for Drug Control.
As part of their traffic enforcement operations, emergency police patrols issued 1,115 traffic citations, impounded two vehicles, and responded to 149 traffic accidents.
The latest figures reflect Kuwait’s ongoing efforts to strengthen traffic enforcement, improve road safety, and intensify action against offenders, residency violators and individuals wanted by law enforcement authorities.
