Kuwait International Airport saw the return of thousands of citizens and residents as the summer holiday ended, and schools and universities began the new academic year. Many travelers were returning from vacations in tourist destinations or visits to their home countries to see family, according to Al Rai newspaper.

Al Rai newspaper monitored the return of passengers to the country through Kuwait International Airport (T1) and spoke with Mansour Al-Hashemi, Director of the Operations Department in the General Directorate of Civil Aviation. He noted that the most popular destinations for passengers during the holiday were Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Egypt, Dubai, Mashhad, and London.

Al-Hashemi said that the General Directorate of Airport Operations has implemented an integrated plan to receive passengers returning to the country. This plan, developed in coordination with the Ministry of Interior, Customs, airlines, and ground services, aims to address congestion and facilitate movement by opening passport counters, operating baggage handling at full capacity, and providing staff to load bags and deliver them to arrivals vehicles.

He added that the airport is operating according to a pre-planned schedule, in collaboration with various authorities, to manage the increased travel traffic during peak seasons, whether for departures or arrivals.

He noted that the department’s quality team is actively working to assess the level of services provided at the airport and monitor any issues or shortcomings to take appropriate measures. This is part of the administration’s commitment to preventing the recurrence of any mistakes that could disrupt passengers or the authorities working at the airport.

He added that Civil Aviation monitored active flight traffic from June 1 to August 15, with 12,940 departures and 12,938 arrivals, totaling 25,878 flights. During this period, the number of departing passengers reached 1,919,727, while arriving passengers totaled 1,652,261, resulting in a combined total of 3,571,988 passengers.
