Kuwait intensifies emergency telecom preparedness amid regional tensions
Efforts underway to integrate government systems to ensure uninterrupted delivery of digital services under all circumstances – CAIT

Minister of State for Communications Affairs Omar Al-Omar held an expanded meeting today with senior officials from the Ministry of Communications, affiliated entities, and representatives from national telecom providers to monitor the implementation of Kuwait’s emergency plan and ensure the security and stability of its telecommunications network.
Al-Omar told the Kuwait News Agency that the meeting is part of a series of coordination efforts aimed at strengthening national readiness in response to current regional developments.
He emphasized that maintaining continuous telecom services is a top priority, highlighting the importance of coordination between government agencies and both local and international service providers.
Acting Undersecretary Eng. Mishaal Al-Zaid confirmed heightened technical and field readiness, with real-time monitoring of the national network in cooperation with partners to ensure swift emergency response.
Acting CITRA Chairman Sheikh Athbi Jaber Al-Sabah announced proactive technical steps, including collaboration with global providers to secure alternative internet routes and activate local Internet Exchange Points (IX), reinforcing the resilience of data traffic and service continuity.
Najat Ibrahim, Acting Director of the Central Agency for Information Technology (CAIT), said efforts are underway to integrate government systems to ensure uninterrupted delivery of digital services under all conditions.
Representatives from Zain, Ooredoo, STC, and Virgin Mobile affirmed their full operational readiness, citing strong infrastructure, active emergency centers, alternative communication routes, and advanced technical support strategies.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to ongoing coordination sessions and periodic status reports to ensure continued confidence in Kuwait’s telecom sector readiness.
