Kuwait inks KD 93.78 million deal to expand infrastructure in Sabah Al-Ahmad City

The Public Institution for Housing Welfare has inked a contract with an international company. The contract entails the construction, completion, and maintenance of road works and infrastructure service networks for 7,623 housing units in the N5, N7, N9 and N10 suburbs of the South Sabah Al-Ahmad Residential City project, totaling KD 93.78 million, according to a report in the Al Rai newspaper.
Eng. Rashid Al-Enezi, the acting Director General of the corporation, stated that this contract is the first of three planned contracts to implement road works and infrastructure networks in the city.
The second contract, which covers the roads and infrastructure networks for 6,189 residential units in N4, N6 and N8 suburbs, is scheduled to be signed next week. Additionally, a tender has been issued for the third phase, covering 6,568 residential units in the N1, N2, N3 and N11 suburbs, with offers currently under evaluation.
He revealed that the implementation period for the first contract was set at 900 days. He stated that the corporation is monitoring the progress of the first contract in the city, which includes constructing, completing, and maintaining main road works, major infrastructure service networks, and rainwater tanks. He explained that the completion rate of the works has reached 19.22 percent, surpassing the initial program. The project timeline has increased by 8.64 percent.
Al-Enezi added that four contracts have been signed to supply, install, implement, and maintain four main stations (400/132/11 kV) to provide electrical power to the residential suburbs of the city, totaling KD 122.308 million. The implementation period for these contracts is 730 days. He disclosed that efforts are currently underway to hand over the sites to contractors for initiating the works.
He further mentioned that two tenders were issued to supply, install, implement, and maintain 20 main stations with 132/11 kV voltage in the residential suburbs of N5, N6, N7, N8, N9 and N10.
He emphasized that the corporation is committed to ensuring the simultaneous operation of these stations and the provision of electricity in the city as residents complete their constructions.
