Kuwait, India hold seventh round of political consultations to strengthen strategic partnership

Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs, Ambassador H.E Samih Johar Hayat, led the seventh round of political consultations between Kuwait and India at the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in New Delhi today.

The talks focused on following up on the outcomes of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s official visit to Kuwait in December 2024, during which he held extensive discussions with His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.

In discussions with senior Indian officials, including Deputy Minister of External Affairs Arun Kumar Chatterjee, Assistant Foreign Minister for Arabian Gulf Affairs Ambassador Asim Mahajan, and Deputy Assistant Foreign Minister Ambassador Omar Farooq, Ambassador Hayat addressed bilateral cooperation in political, economic, trade, investment, cultural, labor, education, scientific research, civil aviation, energy, industry, artificial intelligence, and health sectors.

The consultations highlighted a renewed dialogue and extensive interaction on issues of mutual interest, reflecting satisfaction on both sides with the distinguished historical relations and the elevation of ties to a strategic partnership.

Ambassador Hayat emphasized the importance of continuing high-level visits and workshops to maintain and expand cooperation across multiple sectors.

The discussions also focused on the Indian community in Kuwait, which exceeds one million people, particularly regarding their participation in construction and infrastructure projects.

Ambassador Hayat noted a strong alignment of views between the two countries on regional and international issues, particularly in support of peaceful conflict resolution.

The meetings were attended by Kuwaiti Ambassador to India H.E. Mishal Al-Shamali, Indian Ambassador to Kuwait H.E Dr. Adarsh Swaika, and senior diplomatic advisors from both sides, marking a positive atmosphere of cooperation and shared vision for deepening bilateral relations.
