Kuwait implements automatic monitoring for charity funds

The Ministry of Social Affairs’ system tracks all financial activities of major charities, requiring approval for any expenditure before disbursement for projects.

The Ministry of Social Affairs coordinates with local banks to prevent fund disbursement from association accounts without its prior consent.

Donors are urged to be cautious and direct contributions only to recognized organizations to prevent funds from falling into the hands of exploiters.

In light of the digital transformation initiated by the Ministry of Social Affairs, which has impacted its key departments—including the Department of Charities and Foundations—Al-Jarida newspaper has learned that the ministry has officially launched an automated system for daily prior monitoring of charitable associations’ expenses.

This system tracks all financial activities of prominent charities, requiring approval for any expenditure, regardless of the amount, before disbursement for their internal or external projects.

According to ministry sources, there is extensive coordination between the ministry and local banks, ensuring that banks do not disburse any funds from the accounts of associations or approved platforms without the knowledge and prior consent of the Ministry of Social Affairs. This is to maintain strict control over these funds and monitor their movements closely.

The ministry explained that, alongside the launch of the “daily monitoring system,” there will be immediate automatic approvals for transactions by parties wishing to exchange funds, allowing for timely completion without delays or disruptions, provided all relevant controls and requirements are adhered to. Transactions will be adopted only in cases of compliance.

The sources also emphasized that any illegal donation collection will be met with firm action against individuals or entities involved. This is to ensure strict oversight of collected funds and restrict activities to well-known legal entities operating under the state’s umbrella.

They urged citizen and resident donors to exercise caution when making donations, directing them only to recognized and reputable organizations in the country, as funds could otherwise fall into the hands of those who exploit them and distort Kuwaiti charitable efforts.
