Kuwait honors nurses on International Nurses Day

Ceremony honored a distinguished group of male and female nurses who received the 'Ideal Nurse of the Year 2025' award

The Ministry of Health marked International Nurses Day on Tuesday under the global theme: “Our Nurses, Our Future: Caring for Nurses Strengthens the Economy.” The event was held under the patronage and in the presence of Minister of Health Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi and the Ministry’s Undersecretary, Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi.

In his address, Minister Al-Awadhi emphasized that celebrating this occasion reflects deep appreciation for the essential and multifaceted role nurses play in delivering quality healthcare and in supporting the strategic objectives of the health sector. He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to advancing the nursing profession by offering continuous training opportunities and professional development programs, reports Al-Rai daily

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Iman Al-Awadhi, Director of the Nursing Services Department, underscored the importance of the “Ideal Nurse of the Year 2025” award, now in its second year. She noted that the award seeks to foster a culture of excellence, innovation, and leadership in the nursing field—goals aligned with the Ministry’s broader vision of building a healthcare system founded on efficiency and empowerment.

Dr. Iman Al-Awadhi expressed her gratitude to the Minister and Undersecretary for their unwavering support of such initiatives that invest in human capital. She also thanked all nursing professionals across Kuwait, describing them as pillars of the healthcare system and beacons of hope for patient recovery.

A skilled and empowered nursing workforce, she stressed, is key to the success and sustainability of any health system.

The ceremony honored a distinguished group of male and female nurses who received the “Ideal Nurse of the Year 2025” award. The awards were presented with wide participation from across Kuwait’s healthcare ecosystem, including the Ministry of Defense, the National Guard, Kuwait Oil Company’s Al-Ahmadi Hospital, private hospitals, and the Public Authority for the Disabled.

The recognition initiative aims to create a healthy competitive environment that enhances performance and contributes to better patient and community satisfaction.

This year’s International Nurses Day theme highlights how supporting and investing in nurses directly contributes to stronger health systems, improved health outcomes, and broader economic development.
