Kuwait hails ceasefire as gateway to peace, urges end to Israeli aggression

Kuwait has welcomed the announcement by US President Donald Trump of a ceasefire agreement between the warring parties in the region’s escalating conflict, describing the move as a crucial first step toward de-escalation and regional stability.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kuwait expressed appreciation for the diplomatic efforts undertaken by both the United States and the State of Qatar to broker the agreement. The ministry reiterated Kuwait’s unwavering support for dialogue and peaceful diplomacy as the foundation for resolving conflicts, whether regional or international.
“The ceasefire is a first step toward restoring calm and security in the region,” the statement read, expressing hope that it will also pave the way for halting Israel’s aggression against the occupied Palestinian territories.
Meanwhile, Kuwait’s Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya — who currently chairs the Gulf Cooperation Council’s Ministerial Council — led the 49th extraordinary meeting of GCC foreign ministers in Doha to address the recent Iranian missile strike on Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar.
In an interview with Al-Akhbar TV, Al-Yahya expressed Kuwait’s full solidarity with Qatar in the wake of the attack, affirming unwavering support for its leadership, government, and people.
“I spoke with Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani following the attack,” Al-Yahya said. “I assured him that Qatar leads the way, and we stand fully ready for comprehensive Gulf coordination to meet any security needs. Our unity, our solidarity, and our shared destiny will remain the foundation of our response.”
The ministerial meeting highlighted the urgent need for collective regional action and reinforced the Gulf states’ commitment to defending the sovereignty and security of any member state under threat.
