Kuwait Hackathon 2025: Young Innovators Lead the Future of Cybersecurity

The third edition of the “Kuwait Hackathon 2025” competition, held last Saturday, showcased a remarkable group of young talents demonstrating strong potential in cybersecurity and advanced software technologies. The event reflected a growing national momentum toward empowering youth and strengthening Kuwait’s digital future.
Organized by the Coded Academy for Programming in cooperation with the National Cybersecurity Center, and held under the patronage of the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahd Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, the competition targeted enthusiasts and emerging specialists in cybersecurity. In her speech during the closing ceremony, the Head of the National Cybersecurity Center, Abeer Al-Awadhi, emphasized that the center places high priority on qualifying and empowering young talents capable of understanding digital challenges and providing sustainable solutions to protect Kuwait’s digital infrastructure.
Al-Awadhi explained that the center’s sponsorship “was not merely support for a technical event, but a conscious commitment to the nation’s future,” rooted in the belief that building national capabilities begins with initiatives that allow youth to express themselves, innovate, and create practical solutions to real-world digital threats.

She praised the distinguished participation witnessed in the Kuwait Hackathon, noting that the event reaffirmed Kuwait’s richness in exceptional national talent capable of progressing confidently and contributing to the country’s digital security. She stressed that “digital security is no longer optional; it has become a national necessity affecting every individual and institution,” especially as cyberattacks grow increasingly frequent.

Al-Awadhi affirmed the center’s commitment to expanding training programs, competitions, and field exercises, expressing hope that this hackathon will mark the beginning of a sustainable, secure national path in cybersecurity and digital transformation. She thanked all partners, judges, mentors, and trainers for their contributions and congratulated the winning teams, reminding them that “their responsibility has just begun” and that innovation must continue beyond awards and titles.

For his part, Coded Academy CEO Ahmed Ma’arafi confirmed the academy’s dedication to building a “cyber generation” capable of meeting emerging digital challenges. He stated that investing in youth technical skills has become a national necessity to enhance cybersecurity and support Kuwait’s digital transformation.
Ma’arafi added that “Coded” seeks to elevate Kuwait’s capabilities in cybersecurity by training and qualifying national talent in line with global technological advancements, contributing to a more resilient and efficient digital ecosystem. He expressed appreciation for government and private-sector cooperation, which he described as essential for developing an advanced digital environment and strengthening national skill-building initiatives.
