Kuwait glaucoma specialist uses advanced eyeWatch system for pioneering microsurgery

The cutting-edge technology, among the latest global innovations, enhances the precision of glaucoma treatment, a critical advancement for managing one of the most severe eye diseases.

Preliminary studies show that the advanced EyeWatchSystem for glaucoma microsurgery effectively lowers eye pressure, reduces post-surgery complications, and significantly cuts the need for eye drops, with 40% of patients able to forgo them entirely.

Dr. Youssef Al-Harez, Head of the Ophthalmology Department at Al-Farwaniya Hospital, announced that Dr. Abdullah Mohammed Al-Kandari, a glaucoma specialist in the department, recently performed a pioneering microsurgery for glaucoma treatment using the advanced eyeWatch System. This cutting-edge technology, among the latest global innovations, enhances the precision of glaucoma treatment, a critical advancement for managing one of the most severe eye diseases, according to Q8-Press.

Dr. Al-Kandari pointed out that the device is characterized by its superior ability to precisely control the discharge of eye fluid, allowing doctors to manage eye pressure more effectively.

Preliminary studies have shown that it not only reduces eye pressure effectively but also minimizes potential complications after surgery. Additionally, these studies indicate a significant reduction in the need for post-surgery eye drops, with a decrease observed by up to 90%, and 40% of patients being able to forgo drops entirely.

In conclusion, Dr. Youssef Al-Harez emphasized that these surgeries align with the Ministry of Health’s policy to incorporate new drugs, consumables, and surgical tools. This approach enhances doctors’ ability to provide the best treatments available worldwide and improves the quality of health services provided.
