Kuwait-Germany strengthen cooperation as Berlin marks 35 years of ‘Unity’

“The State of Kuwait is a reliable partner and is committed to upholding a fair legal framework and the rule of law,” says the German Ambassador to Kuwait, H.E. Hans-Christian Freiherr von Reibnitz.

Speaking at a reception hosted by the German Embassy to mark the 35th anniversary of German Unity, Ambassador Reibnitz highlighted the strong and longstanding ties between Kuwait and Germany.

The event was attended by Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Nader Al-Jalal, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defense Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Al-Mishal, and Sheikh Khalid Al-Badr, among other distinguished guests.

The ambassador emphasized the depth of bilateral relations and the mutual desire to strengthen cooperation across various sectors.

He recalled the recent visit of German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul to Kuwait, during which both the foreign ministers of nations signed a strategic dialogue framework and discussed broad areas of political, economic, and people-to-people cooperation.

The German envoy also noted that His Highness the Prime Minister of Kuwait had visited Germany twice this year, expressing enthusiasm for his upcoming trip in February 2026 to participate in the Munich Security Conference.

He further underscored Germany’s belief — shared with its European Union partners — that unity at home and engagement abroad are essential to progress.

He pointed out that the recent EU–GCC ministerial meeting and the high-level business forum held last week saw strong German participation and tangible results, calling for deeper partnerships to promote peace, stability, and prosperity.

Reflecting on the national occasion, the ambassador remarked, “November 9 is a defining date in German history. In 1918, in the aftermath of World War I, the Republic was proclaimed, paving the way for a democratic Germany.”
