Kuwait gears up to welcome Gulf leaders with beautified roads

Kuwait’s airport road upgrades have garnered attention ahead of the 45th Supreme Council Summit in December, with many hoping for similar improvements across the country’s roads.

The Public Authority for Roads & Transportation stated that it has made significant progress, in coordination with the Public Authority of Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources, in completing the maintenance of the airport road and landscaping with ornamental plants along its sides.

Kuwait is preparing to warmly welcome the leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries for the 45th Supreme Council Summit, set to be hosted in early December, Al Rai newspaper reported.

The development work on the airport road, with its new enhancements, has caught the attention of its users, to the point that many expressed a desire for all of Kuwait’s roads to be as well-developed as the airport road. Completion works are currently in full swing in preparation for the upcoming Gulf summit.

Informed sources from the Public Authority for Roads & Transportation stated that “the authority has made significant progress, in coordination with the Public Authority of Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources, in completing the maintenance of the airport road and landscaping with ornamental plants along its sides.”

The sources further told Al-Rai newspaper that “the authority is making great efforts, in cooperation with the Public Authority of Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources, to maintain the airport road, starting from the roundabout at the airport entrance to Bayan Palace.” They highlighted the considerable progress made in completing the work before the Gulf summit, aiming to present the road in its best possible form for visitors.

The sources noted the follow-up by Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan, the Minister of Public Works, on the completion plan for the works to ensure the maintenance of the airport road and Amiri airport is finalized, with all equipment ready before the summit.

She stated, “The ongoing maintenance work includes comprehensive repairs to the airport roundabout, as well as some concrete dividers between the lanes. It also involves clarifying speed limits on the road surfaces, highlighted in red, and planting various seedlings along the road.”

She continued, “Once the required work is completed, the airport road will serve as a model for the rest of Kuwait’s roads, which the Ministry of Public Works and the Public Authority for Roads & Transportation will soon begin to overhaul to meet the ambitions for the country’s infrastructure.”
