Kuwait Fund reaffirms commitment to Lebanon’s development

Acting Director General of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED), Waleed Al-Bahar, reaffirmed on Monday the Fund’s commitment to supporting development projects in Lebanon, stressing their importance in boosting economic growth, enhancing infrastructure, and improving essential services.

Speaking to KUNA, Al-Bahar said his visit to Lebanon aims to follow up on projects financed by the Fund and grants provided by the Kuwaiti government, while working to update them and address any obstacles to their implementation.

The program for the KFAED delegation includes meetings of technical working groups to review project progress, discuss grant utilization, and explore ways to strengthen development cooperation in line with the shared interests of both countries.

During the visit, Al-Bahar also met with several senior Lebanese officials, including Minister of Economy and Trade Dr. Amer Al-Bassat, Minister of Finance Yassin Jaber, and Chairman of the Council for Development and Reconstruction Mohammad Qabbani.

Following his meeting with Al-Bahar, Minister Jaber confirmed that the Kuwait Fund intends to repair projects damaged by the war, particularly the Litani River project and the sewage treatment facility in the Marjayoun region of southern Lebanon.

He added that a technical delegation from the Fund, together with local experts led by the Council for Development and Reconstruction, will continue preparing studies for initiatives such as the establishment of an archaeological museum in downtown Beirut.

Jaber also noted that discussions are underway on a series of additional development projects that could receive Kuwait Fund support in the future.
