Kuwait, France deepen partnership in energy and infrastructure sectors

Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, Minister of Finance, and Acting Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment, Dr. Subaih Al-Mukhaizeem, reaffirmed on Wednesday the country’s commitment to attracting foreign investment and providing facilities for investors through the public-private partnership system.

This came during his meeting with French Ambassador to Kuwait, Olivier Gauvin, where both sides reviewed bilateral relations and discussed cooperation in investment, infrastructure, and energy.

The ambassador expressed French companies’ strong interest in expanding their role in the Kuwaiti market, citing expertise in renewable energy, waste-to-energy, and water treatment.

Minister Al-Mukhaizeem also highlighted major projects underway in Kuwait, including the Shagaya Renewable Energy Project and the Nuwaiseeb Project, emphasizing that the country remains open to partnerships that support sustainable growth.

The discussions also touched on developments in the electricity grid, regional energy security, water treatment initiatives, and services for new cities, as well as the importance of strengthening electricity and water interconnections with neighboring countries.

The Electricity Ministry presented a visual briefing on the successful management of electricity and water demand during the summer.

Both sides underscored the depth of Kuwaiti-French relations and their shared determination to enhance cooperation in ways that serve the interests of the two friendly nations.
