Kuwait Fire Force emphasizes on fire safety guidelines ahead of camping season

Brigadier General Mohammed Al-Gharib, Director of Public Relations and Media at the Kuwait Fire Force, has urged campers to strictly follow fire prevention and safety measures during the camping season.

He announced the ‘Tent Safely’ campaign will be launched next Saturday to raise awareness among campers about safety requirements and the proper use of fire protection equipment.

The initiative will cover all designated camping areas, with awareness kits and informational leaflets distributed in cooperation with the private sector, reports Al-Rai daily.

Highlighting key safety precautions, Brigadier Al-Gharib advised maintaining a distance of 5–6 meters between tents and at least 10 meters between tents and cooking areas or generators.

The campers should ensure electrical wiring is safe, avoid damaged or exposed cables, and set up tents away from high-voltage overhead powerlines, military zones, oil fields, or flood-prone areas.

He also cautioned against wooden flooring inside tents, stressed the need for sufficient exits, and recommended careful use of charcoal stoves, including proper ventilation and complete extinguishing before going to bed.

Parents are reminded to supervise children around sources of heat, while campers are encouraged to keep fire protection equipment such as extinguishers, fire blankets, and first aid kits readily available.

The KFF continues to conduct field visits, awareness campaigns, and distribute safety materials to educate the public on proper camping practices — from selecting safe locations to maintaining fire equipment.

Brigadier Al-Gharib emphasized that adherence to these measures, both at campsites and at home, is essential to protect lives and property throughout the season.
