Kuwait faces flash flooding with heavy rainfall and water pools

While field teams worked to clear blocked rainwater drainage manholes to ensure smooth water flow, several citizens reported large amounts of rainwater leaking into the basements of their homes.

• Security and traffic patrols were deployed to manage traffic and assist road users. Sabah Al-Ahmad was the hardest hit, with significant flooding on its streets and roads, and some dirt squares resembling lakes.

The Ministry of Public Works and the Public Authority for Roads & Transportation have mobilized to address water pools caused by the heavy rainstorm that has affected the country since yesterday evening, Al Qabas newspaper reported.

While water accumulated in several areas, Sabah Al-Ahmad was the hardest hit, with significant flooding on its streets and roads, and some of its dirt squares resembling lakes.

A number of citizens reported large amounts of rainwater leaking into the basements of their homes.

Emergency teams from the Ministry of Public Works and the Public Authority for Roads & Transportation responded to water pools and reports. Pumps were deployed, and water was removed to ensure the safety of roads, citizens, and residents.

Field teams also worked to clear blocked rainwater drainage manholes to ensure smooth water flow.

The work teams were particularly active in Sabah Al-Ahmad City due to the high rainfall rates there.

Jahra, Al-Oyoun, Al-Ahmadi, Al-Fahaheel, the Capital, Shuwaikh, Hawalli, and Salmiya also experienced heavy rains and water pooling. The concerned authorities received reports from several citizens about water pools in their homes, which were promptly addressed by emergency teams.

On the ground, security and traffic patrols were deployed on streets and roads to regulate traffic, assist road users, and manage traffic accidents in some areas.
