Kuwait explores strategic cooperation in advanced data analytics and AI with Google Cloud

In a significant step toward accelerating Kuwait’s digital transformation, Minister of Public Works Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan and Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology Affairs Omar Al-Omar held a joint meeting with senior executives from Google Cloud to explore strategic cooperation in advanced data analytics and artificial intelligence (AI).

The ministers received Thomas Remy, General Manager of Sales Specialists for Data Analytics at Google Cloud, Engineer Shaima Al-Terkait, General Manager of Google Cloud–Kuwait, and their accompanying delegation.

According to Al-Rai daily, the discussions focused on leveraging AI and data analytics to enhance digital integration across government entities, with particular attention to infrastructure development, traffic management, and predictive planning.

Also in attendance was Major General Jamal Al-Foudari, Director General of the General Traffic Department, who participated in discussions on employing AI to analyze traffic flow patterns, forecast congestion, and improve road safety and mobility through smarter traffic management systems.

The meeting examined how the Ministry of Public Works could adopt Google Cloud’s advanced AI capabilities to support strategic objectives such as:

  • Improving planning and execution of major infrastructure projects,
  • Implementing predictive maintenance for key assets,
  • Optimizing resource allocation,
  • And transforming large volumes of data into actionable insights to shape public policy grounded in real-world conditions.

Dr. Al-Mashaan reiterated the government’s commitment to embracing innovative technologies to improve the quality, transparency, and efficiency of public services.

Minister Al-Omar emphasized the foundational role of digital infrastructure and inter-ministerial collaboration in deploying AI-driven solutions, noting that data sharing and integration among government institutions are key to achieving faster progress and higher institutional performance.

During the meeting, the Google Cloud team outlined their global expertise in delivering secure and scalable platforms for AI and data analytics, highlighting their potential to help Kuwaiti ministries drive operational excellence and informed decision-making.

The discussions also underscored the importance of developing local digital skills and talent to sustain these advancements and build a capable national workforce equipped to manage next-generation technologies.
