In a continued effort to strengthen preventive healthcare and prioritize the well-being of its people, the Ministry of Health inaugurated the fourth “Tatman” clinic for voluntary testing and counseling on Tuesday, in the newly opened Farwaniya Hospital.
The initiative, overseen by the Public Health Department, is part of the Ministry’s broader vision to expand access to essential health services, improve care quality, and enhance community immunity through early detection and awareness, reports Al-Rai daily.
Dr. Fahd Al-Ghamlas, Director of the Public Health Department, stated that the new clinic represents a vital step in the plan to extend public health services across the country. “This expansion makes it easier for both citizens and residents to access preventive care and health guidance,” he noted.
The “Tatman” initiative not only includes clinics for traveler testing and food handler health screenings, but also offers a range of preventive services aimed at building a more health-conscious and safe society.
Equipped with advanced diagnostics, the clinic provides rapid testing for several infectious diseases such as HIV, hepatitis B and C, syphilis, gonorrhea, and chlamydia. Tests are conducted in a highly confidential and private environment, with results for some conditions available within minutes. In cases of positive findings, individuals are referred for further confirmatory testing and treatment follow-up.
Additionally, the clinic administers recommended preventive vaccinations to high-risk groups, reinforcing the Ministry’s goal of enhancing community immunity and preventing disease outbreaks in line with international public health standards.
The clinic’s opening was attended by prominent health officials, including Dr. Mohammed Al-Rashidi, Director of the Farwaniya Health District; Dr. Ali Al-Mutairi, Director of the Hospital; and Dr. Ahmed Al-Mutairi, Head of Public Health Services in the district, along with other health sector leaders and laboratory specialists.
This latest clinic joins three previously established under the “Tatman” program—located at Fahaheel Health Center, Jahra Hospital 2 (Communicable Diseases Hospital), and the Public Health Department in the Sabah Specialized Medical District—marking a continued expansion of Kuwait’s public health infrastructure.
