Kuwait expands affordable housing with 6,455 new units

The affordable housing project includes 9,800 houses, public buildings, and infrastructure connections, as well as the implementation of road lighting networks and the supply and installation of low and medium-pressure cables.

The Public Authority for Housing Welfare has signed six contracts with local and international companies to implement the citys development works, with a total value of KD 785.3 million Kuwaiti, and each project is set for completion within 1,095 days.

The affordable housing project features 74 public buildings, including two kindergartens, ten primary schools, eight middle schools, and six secondary schools. Additionally, it comprises 14 main mosques, 16 houses for imams and muezzins, a fire station and a telephone exchange, among others.

 

The Public Authority for Housing Welfare has signed four contracts for the construction and maintenance of 6,455 houses, public buildings, roadworks, and electrical installations across seven suburbs in the affordable housing project, Q8-Press reported.

Rashid Al-Enzi, Director General of the authority, stated in a press release that with this signing, the authority has finalized all contracts for the construction, completion, and maintenance of houses, public buildings, asphalt surface layers, low and medium-pressure cable supply and installation, and road lighting works for all sectors of the affordable housing project.

He added that the authority has signed six contracts with local and international companies to implement the city’s development works, with a total value of KD 785.3 million Kuwaiti (approximately $2.6 billion), and each project is set for completion within 1,095 days.

Al-Enzi explained that the affordable housing project includes 9,800 houses, public buildings, and infrastructure connections, as well as the implementation of road lighting networks and the supply and installation of low and medium-pressure cables.

He further noted that the project features 74 public buildings, including two kindergartens, ten primary schools, eight middle schools, and six secondary schools. Additionally, it comprises two mosques, 14 main mosques, 16 houses for imams and muezzins, a fire station, a telephone exchange, two community development centers, a social unit center, two police stations, two specialized health centers, an ambulance center, two markets, two service centers, two gas stations, and a diwan for the elderly.

Al-Enzi stated that the signing of these contracts aligns with the authority’s commitment to achieving its strategic objectives of delivering integrated housing projects that enhance the standard of living. He added that the project is scheduled for completion in early 2028.

He emphasized that the authority is closely monitoring the implementation of the first and second contracts, launched in early January, which include the construction of 3,345 houses, several public buildings, and the execution of asphalt surface layers, as well as the supply and installation of low and medium-pressure cables and road lighting works in sectors (BP-1) and (BP-3).
