In a move to enhance diplomatic engagement, Kuwait and Estonia signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Friday in the Estonian capital, Tallinn, to establish a framework for bilateral political consultations between the two countries.

According to a statement by the Kuwaiti Embassy in Germany, the MoU was signed by Assistant Foreign Minister for European Affairs Sadiq Marafi on behalf of Kuwait, and by Martin Roger, Undersecretary for Political Affairs at the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Following the signing, the first round of political consultations took place the same day. The Kuwaiti delegation was headed by Sadiq Marafi, while the Estonian side was led by Martin Roger. Both parties engaged in productive discussions focused on enhancing cooperation across multiple sectors, reports Al-Rai daily.

The consultations emphasized joint efforts in digital transformation, governance, and cybersecurity, aligning with Kuwait Vision 2035, which aims to modernize Kuwait’s public and private sectors. Estonia, recognized as a global leader in digital governance, is expected to provide valuable expertise in these areas.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepen ties and open new avenues of cooperation, especially in areas of mutual strategic interest. The MoU marks a new chapter in Kuwait-Estonia relations, setting the stage for regular high-level dialogue and collaboration.
